amazing Tips for Optimizing Your RSS

If you are new to blogging or don't understand RSS, RSS stands for Really Easy Syndication. It is a collection of web feed formats that is automatically updated frequently. This is often done in blog posts. Every time you publish a post on your blog, anyone who is subscribed via email or book mark to your RSS feed will be notified or updated about the new post. This is how RSS works in a nutshell.

What does optimizing your RSS mean? Let me explain -

Optimizing your RSS is a way to make sure your RSS performs well and attracts new subscribers. Let's take an overview.

Tips to Optimize Your RSS

  1. Impress them with your mind-blowing content and awesomeness...

First, you must provide exceptional quality content and resources. The 5 tips that follow will not be of any use to you.

  1. Full RSS

Your readers have two options to subscribe: RSS bookmarking or email opt-in.

  1. Make it unique

Consider the design of the RSS icon and your RSS opt-in form. You can make it stand out by adding text or incentives to encourage readers to sign up. It doesn't need to look like a billboard advertisement. Make it stand out.

  1. Make It Visible and Easy to Subscribe

While you can make your RSS unique and memorable, don't let readers get discouraged by the difficulty of finding your RSS subscriber icon.

While I enjoyed the content on many blogs, I felt frustrated that I couldn't find an RSS subscription form or icon. The footer contains a no! hidden on a page elsewhere on your blog. Not having one is worse! The best places to have RSS icons and subscriber forms are often located in the sidebar and below your posts.

Make it simple for subscribers to sign up. Don't ask them to fill out questionnaires, or give them a list with radial buttons.

  1. Let them understand

You don't have to assume everyone understands what the big, orange square RSS logo is. You can teach your readers about RSS by writing a few posts or making a video tutorial that explains what it is and why you should subscribe to it. Education is the best policy for any niche of blogging...

  1. Give them a few other options

For those who wish to increase their RSS subscribers, my last tip is for you. Your readers shouldn't be offered too many options to subscribe. Many bloggers will combine RSS icon with social icons. This is a good thing. But if you really want to increase your subscribers, then place RSS at the top of your sidebar. The rest, i.e. Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube are further down below.

Let's just recap the bullet points tips to optimize your RSS. We all love bullet points. Yeah... Yes...

  • Provide readers with amazing content
  • Full RSS
  • It should be distinctive, visible, and easy to sign up
  • Your readers should know what RSS is.
  • If you want to increase your RSS subscribers, don't offer readers too many options.
